Zemanta makes blogging a little less time consuming
When you blog about things you found online, how do you do it? If I find something interesting that I want to talk about here, I usually will do my research on it, then just write from scratch what I want to say about the article or product etc. Sometimes, what I write may be more of a product or tip “announcement” to make people aware of what I found that may not know yet. Sometimes I may have something about the product or tip that I want to talk about that goes beyond what I originally read in the blog post or article that I first read.
In those situation where its not really my views, but more of an informational blog post about a certain product etc, I like to make sure I like to the right websites so that readers can go to the source and read that info. I found something that could potentially make that job a little easier.
Zemanta.com aims to make “re-blogging” a little easier. Not only re-blogging, but pretty much any type of blogging. Let me explain how it works.
First there is to ways to enable the integration
1. Internet explorer extension
2. blogging platform plugin
From what I read the blogging platform plugin give you the best functionality and is a more complete solution but not all blogging platforms are supported. looks like if you have a self hosted Wordpress or Movable type blog you use the plugin, any other blog will have to settle for the extension.
As you write your post, the Zemanta plugin will offer suggestions as to images to use, links to other content and even other blogs that that may be talking about the same thing that you can quote. All of these things are things I usually have to search and find myself. if it works like advertised, it should cut down on the overall time it takes to write a blog post.
Another thing I found interesting (and how I found out about Zemanta) You can have a “re-blog this” icon or link on your post. When people visit your blog and see something that they want to talk about on thier blog. they can simply click that link and it will auto-incorporate that content to your blog and have it ready for you to add your own thoughts and content about the topic.
Sounds interesting to me and I may just set it up one of these days to see how well in works. If you want to know more about Zemanta, feel free to visit

I’ve downloaded it and haven’t used it much because it’s mostly suggesting Wikipedia links at this time, hopefully that will diversify over time.
