Who host your blog?
I started blogging in late 2006. My first blog was a Dotnetnuke blog so I had to have it hosted on a Windows based server. The company I was using was ASPnix. They were a highly recommended web host and I didn’t have any problems with them unless I had a problem. That doesn’t make sense does it. What I mean is generally, the server just worked, not much downtime, or technical issues but there were a few times where there were glitches that caused me to contact their technical support. Thats when the problems occurred. For some reason, most host that ive dealt with are really funny acting when it comes to technical support. You can ask them a question and instead of answering it, they will tell you to read this and that.
Thats not a big deal if its a problem with something Im doing, but most of the time, after I set the site up, I don’t mess with it. If one day, My site isnt working, and the control panel isnt working, the host’s forums and everything else dealing with the webhost is getting the same error message, chances are there is a problem with the server right? So why point me to documentation (that I cant get too cause that site is down also) if you know you are having problems with the server?
Eventually, a real annoying exchange with tech support caused me to leave ASPnix for Hostingfest.
I liked Hostingfest but when I switched over to wordpress, I brought that blog over to the host Im using at this site. Ive tried Godaddy with no success, but I think they got their stuff together since then. Also tried a few other host that just didn’t work out. Now I’m using 1and1 hosting who so far is working out pretty well.
The other day, I was looking for a host for some domains I have registered, and noticed that there is a ton of spam when you are looking for webhost. it seems like many host you find when you search in Google are not worth getting, and its hard to find the real deal. I’m curious, what web host are you using? where do you go to find the real information about web host?

My site is hosted with Yahoo Small Business. I have been fairly happy with the service. There have been no incidents that I have not been able to figure out through geekery or Google so I can’t speak to their support.
If I was looking for a new web host, I would check two sites:
http://whreviews.com/
and
http://www.webhostingtalk.com/

I personally love HostGator. I have three domains hosted through them, and I can’t complain about anything. Anytime I have any questions, they are quick to respond. No complaints.
The domain names that I have, I now purchase thru 1 & 1, because they have the best rates that I have found. I had a MAJOR disagreement with GoDaddy, and now boycott them at all costs.
Hope this helps…

I cannot stress enough how much research needs to be done before choosing a web host. I found out to my cost by signing up to a host and getting scammed by them. As well as checking out review sites, just do a websearch for the name of the company you’re looking into.
The main thing I have found is to avoid companies that advertise “unlimited bandwith”. There is no way that they can live up to their promise.

I got scammed by Accuburst. Since then I have used HostMonster and have had way better than average luck with their support, however lately I have had a little more down time than I like.
It seems to be an isolated incident, so I would recommend them, just because they do have a good or better than average support staff.
