I love going to the movies. I usually go to see most of the movies that I’m interested in seeing within the first 2 weeks of release. I’m so bad that if there is a movie that I really want to see, I cant wait till I go on a "date" to see the movie and will go alone during the day when I’m not working.

Ive seen all 3 Lord of the Rings multiple times because of my impatience, did the same with Clerks 2, Xmen 1 and 3, and many others. One thing I use to brag about in 2005 was that I went to the local AMC movie theater 55 times that year (they keep track of your ticket purchases through their movie watchers program).

Recently I had been a little slack on my movie going, but I wanted to go see the movie called 300, had been waiting for it so I wasn’t going to play around. I went to see it opening day on the very first showing. Another thing I had forgotten about since the last time I went to see a movie, is that the local AMC movie theater had raised their prices. Read about it in the paper but it completely slipped my mind.

That morning I looked to see what time it started, got dressed, ran out to do a few things and went to the movies. It was before 6, I got a discount price for the movie ticket so I still hadn’t noticed the price change that much.

Normally I would get popcorn and a Diet coke (not on a diet, just got hooked on diet coke a few years back when I was so I still drink them). This day was different. In my rush to get my errands taken care of, I hadn’t had anything to eat and was hungry. So after I bought my ticket, I figured Id get a hot dog.

Thats when sticker shock set in.

The hot dog / soda combo was $8 bucks…..

8 Bucks for a hot dog and soda, have they lost their mind???

I then thought I would get something else, but I was hungry so I checked out what else was on the menu. Nachos sound good…..

$12.50 for nachos and soda??????

This is crazy. Needless to say I didn’t get a hot dog or nachos. Luckily the movie watchers program gave me a coupon for a free small popcorn when I bought the ticket, so I ended up with the free popcorn and a Diet Coke.

Those prices are insane
