The story that was behind the scenes of yesterdays blog post.

I have a few different web host that I have come in contact with over time. This blog is on 1and1, Jonzee.com is on a different Windows based host. Then there are a few other sites I have setup for other people that  I sometimes check in on from time to time (not blogs). Yesterday, I was checking on one website because the owner (who isnt a techie) was complaining about the speed of the site.

I checked and it was SLOW……

Almost a minute to load a page, thats if the page even loads (sometime it just hangs there).

To make sure it wasnt just me, I tried to access that page from several different PC’s, on different connections.

This particular host, has given me problems before, I dont know what goes on but it seems like they do something sometimes that slows everything down. Its ussually fixed with a quick email.

So I email them…..They tell me that my site loads fine for them.

I check again and its still super slow. I respond to the email, explain that the site is loading but it is really slow.

No response……

I keep checking the site every 5 minutes or so, while surfing the web/waiting for a response email.

After about 45 mins, the website is blazing fast. It is clearly obvious that they did something. At the same time, I get an email. Im expecting to read  "I think we got it" or  " I just changed something, how is it now"….but no….I get

"Sorry we dont see any problems, you might want to check things out on your end"

To be honest, no big deal, its fixed.  when your dealing with web host, sometimes you do run into ego’s or some of the problems I talked about yesterday.  Or, it could be that the host really didnt find anything and the troubleshooting routine may have cleared out some memory or something. Ive seen different variations of this enough times to know that sometimes, they do fix things and act like nothing was wrong.

Anyway, that little story led into yesterdays Post
