Ever heard of a game called Phosphor? Last night, I was just checking out some of the things on the web that I hadn’t had a chance to check out yet and ran across this Web based FPS multiplayer game. Phosphor is that game and get this, it plays in your browser. I was using Firefox when I ran across it and I had to install the shockwave plugin for Firefox before it would load. After that quick plugin install, I was thrown into a FPS game, running around fragging other players.

I was at first extremely impressed, the graphics looks like that of a normal game you would buy that was on a disc. Oh did I mention that this game is free to play? Its in beta so there were some glitches. Actually there were a lot of glitches. Every other firefight I was involved in had me stuck in one spot for a few seconds, not being able to move until I shoot a few times with whatever weapon I had. I tried it again this morning thinking maybe it was my connection (was streaming video across my network the same time I was playing last night) but yea that problem was still there. Its intermittent though. I didn’t actually run across any other human players, just bots.

If you want to try it out, check out www.rasterwerks.com and click on the beta 1 link and it will load you into the game. Looks like it will be a good one to bookmark, as the bugs get fixed, this game should become pretty popular.
