When you think of getting a new email address, what services do you thing of? Yahoo mail? Gmail? Hotmail or Live mail? Yea me too. I was just sitting around the other night and started looking up places to get email accounts. Don’t ask me why, I do things like that sometimes. Well I signed up for a few email services that I found in my search, most I will probably forget about. There was one I thought was worth mentioning. If you head over to inbox.com, a site I had never even been to, you are greeted with the typical search engine/homepage type portal.

I proceeded to sign up for their free email and logged in. Wow, this is a little jewel of an email service. For free you get 5GBs of space. That space can also be used to store photo’s or as  general storage. Theres even a toolbar and taskbar notifier. The web interface is just as functional as many of the big name email clients, with spam filters, folder creation, labeling and everything else. Its an email platform I could really see using as a permanent solution. The only problem I had is the toolbar, although it did alert me to when I had new email, it wouldn’t take me to my email when I clicked on it. It actually crashed my browser several times.

Thats too bad because the toolbar also allowed me to set up other email accounts that it will also notify me of new email. Yahoo, Google, and Hotmail were all listed, as well as any general POP email you may have. Also, the toolbar served as a way to get files to your 5gb storage with options to send items to that storage from the toolbar (Or taskbar notifier).

If you are looking for something different, but good enough to use permanently, you might want to head over to inbox.com and check it out.
