The Mysteries of Page Rank Strikes Again
Im not that good at SEO, but since Ive started blogging, I started to read a few articles to help me out a little bit.
Some things I have tried over at Jonzee.com. Some things I tried, I have noticed a difference in the search engines. One thing I can never do is get my Google Page Rank at that site to go above 1.
I haven’t asked many people to link to me….actually I haven’t asked anyone. I have linked to others, and a few have linked to me. but most just were through general conversation.
A few months ago, something great happened. I checked my PR for www.jonzee.com and it had went from 0 to 1. I know it isn’t much but I was pretty excited about it. A few days later, I noticed something weird… I’ll explain.
My domain is www.jonzee.com. The full URL of my landing page is www.jonzee.com/Blog/tabid/91/Default.aspx. Both will take you to the same page. Like I said, my PR for my domain was 1, but the PR for the full landing page was 3. I was like hmmm. After a few days I figured Id ask someone that I have came in contact through Mybloglogs. So I dropped Eric Landers a line and he told me that there was some updating going on with Google Page Rank and maybe they will fix it. I then was like I’m not going to worry about it, and left it alone all together.
2 days ago, I checked and to my surprise, it looked like things were fixed. www.jonzee.com was PR 3 and www.jonzee.com/Blog/tabid/91/Default.aspx was PR 0. I was like FINALLY!!!. I was all happy and started thinking "maybe I should start putting more effort into getting reciprocal links". Today however things got really weird.
My domain www.jonzee.com is PR 1…again
The full address is PR 3…again.
The other weird thing is that the podcast page and forum page is PR 4.
I know what the problem is….I think. My website, www.jonzee.com, is a Dotnetnuke website. The navigation menu for Dotnetnuke is JavaScript. When you type www.jonzee.com into your browser it takes you to the landing page….the blog. If you click on "Blog" on the navigation menu it takes you to the blog….the same page. But it does so by using the full URL.
I need to get rid of the JavaScript navigation menu and create a regular HTML or CSS menu. The Javascript navigation menu is linked to the full URL’s of all the pages in my site but not the main domain. To Google, www.jonzee.com may look like it has nothing to do with the other pages, which all have higher PR. Maybe I’ll look into making that change.

Talking about PR, my site used to be PR 3 but dropped to PR 0 simply because I was selling text links on my site. It’s been more than a month since I stopped selling links and my PR hasn’t gone back up. Page ranks can really be full of mysteries.
