Spider-Man 3….Do I sense a little Xmen envy?

I really love the Spider-man series. I was a fan of the comics, and when the movies came about, I was really into them.
Friday morning, I got off work (worked the nite shift the nite before). looked and saw Spider-man 3 was playing at 10am. I rested up for about an hour or so and went on to my local AMC theater to check it out.
The movie was decent, I enjoyed it. I have to say that it wasnt as good as the first 2 and I was a little disappointed. It seemed like the writers for Spider-man has X-MEN envy. There were too many villains.
- Of coarse as hinted in Spider-man 2. Peter Parker’s friend Harry became the Goblin - villain number 1.
- Then you have the Sandman, whom has always been a favorite of mine -villain number 2
- Then Spiderman came in contact with the symbiotic black costume - villain number 3 (somewhat)
- Then came everyones favorite bad guy Venom - villain number 4
As much as I loved seeing all the villains, they just didn’t have enough screen time, and all felt rushed. Especially Venom who has a pretty big story line in the comic books, but only about 20 minutes in the movie.
Even though I was disappointed, I still think it is a must see for anyone that liked the first 2, and the CGI effects were really good. The Sandman was really well done.
Maybe Spider-man 4 will flesh out the Venom character a little more. That character needs its own flick

I haven’t had a chance to go, but I’d heard similar comments about the movie being “too crowded.” I’d read an article a while back that said the Raimis had enough plot and characters to split into 2 movies, but couldn’t come up with enough of an event to end the first one.
Who knows too, what will happen with any sequels, since Tobey and Sam Raimi haven’t decided on future involvement. I’m not really a Tobey Maguire fan, so I’d go see it with a new actor.
Well, at least it’s good to know it’s worth finding a babysitter!
psst…how bout a Joost invite?

I’ve been hearing a lot of mixed reactions on this. One of my buddies says it was way better than the first 2, that there was a lot more action. Then I’ve got a few other people telling me it boring and drawn out. I’ll see it regardless, but I guess I’m kind of skeptical to get my hopes up..
By the way, think you could get me a Joost referral?
