I was reading a readers comment on the last blog post I wrote and was writing a comment / response, but decided to write it in a blog post instead. I promise you this blog isn’t becoming a gaming blog, I know Ive been talking about Gaming a lot but after this post, I’m gonna give it a break for a few days (talking about gaming). The comment on the blog post was…

Why they always make the good games for Xbox and Playstation first ??? There are much more pc out there.

There is a simple answer to this question, and this is just my perspective to how things work so some may disagree (or I may be wrong).

Theres more money in Console gaming

Well thats the simple answer. One thing you have to think about, who are the people buying PC’s and consoles? If someone owns or purchases a PC, they may not play one game ever, there are a lot of other reasons people buy PCs, a lot of those reasons are higher up on the list than gaming for many. If someone buy a console system, that person is buying that system to play video games. There are plenty more PCs than there are consoles, but how many of those PC owners play games? Probably not anywhere near the amount of people that own consoles.

I don’t even think that its a matter of the best games comes to consoles first. I think things move around depending on whats popular. There are good PC games out there, always has been. Some may disagree with me but if you take that time between the SNES era and the PS2/Xbox era, Id say that the PC had a lot better gaming. Its funny, I dont know about everywhere, but all of the Electronics boutique (EB games) stores in my area were primarily PC game stores right up till the launch of the PS2. The PS2 released and all of the PC games were pushed to the back corner of the stores while the console games took over the whole store. If you look at things now, Halo and Grand theft auto is probably the biggest selling franchises, and has been for the past few years. But I honestly think the absolute best franchise during all those years is Half life, a PC game.

If you interested in reading more about PC gaming or gaming in general, here are a few older post  on the subject.
