So many social communities…
I’m a member of Mybloglogs. Im also a member over at Explode. All these social websites are getting kindof hard to keep up with.
Which ones do I spend time in building a community of friends? which ones do I display love on my blog? Technorati (fav me please), Myspace, Bebo?
I recently joined Others Online, which is a little different than most Social Community sites. Its actually ran from a toolbar more so than a Website. Its also location based. That way you can limit who shows up in your Others Online toolbar by their distance from you.
The new thing that social sites are doing is trying to put people together by matching "tags" or interests, which I think is good. If I put in interest or tags such as "computers" or "internet" in Explode, my interest becomes links and when clicked, everyone else that has those same tags will show up.
The best thing about these social community websites are that you find out about other interesting websites and blogs while spending your time cruising the different profiles.

- Have you stopped trying to use sites like Mybloglog to get traffic to your blog?
- Do you Doof? Well be a Doof at this gaming, social, community website.
- Something is a little different over at Alexa…Rankings change!
- Alexa isnt the only show in town. Try Compete for a second opinion

Hi David, thx for joining Others Online and checking it out. We’re just about to launch publicly our widget — just wondering if you’re interested in being the first on your block to implement, before we make it public? It will show people by tags and there are are few styles to choose from. It’s at http://www.othersonline.com/widgets/wizards/.
Would love to hear your thoughts on it, as well as on our service.

Cool, I was wondering if there was going to be a web based widget. as you can see, I put the widget on the site, so far so good.

There too many social communities… But what about niche communities? I can’t find really good ones in women issues… Do you know any? I’ll be really thankful if you share some links.

I am going to try out Explode. I had never heard of it but it looks promising. I like all the Social Poster sites for the most part. The popular ones are great.

Social communities are the latest buzz, who can blame the creators, though, after seeing the huge dollar values sites like facebook and myspace are offered?
