RssHugger.com, a new place to find blogs.
I have to admit, My blog reading is spotty. Im not consistent at all. Some days I read tons of blogs Im subscribed to in Google reader. Some days I browse Mybloglog.com or Blogcatalog.com. I use to view Technorati pretty consistently but it seems like things are getting kind of "iffy" there. There is a new kid on the block that I think many looking for blogs to read will find interesting. Rsshugger.com is pretty interesting because it seems like it is designed to give people that are looking for new blogs to read a place to find them. Its done in several different ways.
- Top 100 blogs : First you can take what would be the default choice for most on their first visit, the Top 100 blogs. Which like you would expect it list the top blogs in order of page views at Rsshugger.com.
- Random Blog: Here it shows a random blog from blogs listed at Rsshugger.com. It shows the blog’s URL, a short description and a list of the last 5 or 6 headlines
- New Rss Feeds: This is where you find the new stuff. The blogs that just joined Rsshugger.com.
- Search: This section of the site isn’t really a search, more like a browse. You’ll be greeted with a list of the categories and you can dig down and find all the blogs listed that are in the category you are interested in.
If you have a blog and want to be a part of Rsshugger.com, its pretty easy to do, but it isnt free, well not completely free. You can visit the About page for more detail info, but basically you just register and add your blog. Your blog has to be approved and to be added to the site you either have to pay a $20 fee, or write something about Rsshuger on your blog. Once added, you will get your own page representing your blog and it will be made available to everyone that visits Rsshugger. It seems like theres benefits for both readers and bloggers, and it is about time that Technorati has some competition.
