Microsoft and Yahoo? Heres 4 other tech companies I would like to see merge
Everyone is talking about the Microsoft Yahoo potential merger lately. I think there are some obvious good reasons for them to merger, and of coarse when dealing with Microsoft, there are always bad reasons. Put that merger aside for a minute. Think about all of the other companies out there, all of the other sections of tech related industries. Who else would you like to see combine to form one company? There are a lot of things out there that have features and ideals split amongst a few companies. Isnt there some companies that would merge to bring all of what you like together in one company? Thinking about that, I came up with a few companies that I would like to see combine together.
Amazon and Netflix

I know there are a lot of people out there that just love their iTunes and iTunes downloads. Ive never used iTunes except to sync my iPhone, but I was rooting for them when they first came around. I think now, iTunes has done what needed to be done, and they are now beyond what is needed. They need to be brought down a notch, its really too dangerous to keep them on top of online Music and video distribution. People are starting to see it, Amazon’s music store now has support by all the music labels and have unofficially been deemed the favorite by them. Amazon does have an online video service, but if you ad Netflix, they will have every angle of online music and video covered. They would have un-DRM’d Music, Movie and TV downloads, Streaming movies, and subscription by mail DVD’s. That would put Amazon and netflix right in Apple’s backyard with a little more to offer. The good thing about it is the choice you would have. you wouldn’t have to buy a specific player or Apple’s overpriced Apple TV to enjoy what would be available to you.
Craigslist and Traderonline.
Many might not know what Traderonline is, but you’ve all probably seen some of their products. All of those little papers that are sold in convenient stores such as 7-11: Auto-trader, Truck-trader, Cycle-trader… There are quite a few o them. There is also a website that list everything that is in those publications. Exposure to millions of people. The only problem is that it is crazy expensive to list your stuff in those publications.
On the other hand, Craigslist is free, has plenty of exposure online, but lack the functionality and paper distribution that the trader publications have. Combine the 2 companies and you get the good of both companies. We could end up with smaller fee’s to list vehicles, and paper publications for a lot of the other section of Craigslist that could benefit from it. Imagine a help wanted trader, or a job trader. They could probably leave out the Personals trader.
Apple and Sony
This would be a match made in heaven for many people. Apple has loyal fans, Sony has loyal fans. Apple puts out innovative products, Sony puts out inovative products. Apple products are overpriced, Sony products are overpriced. I’m kidding about the last one (although it is a tad bit of truth to it). The only problem I would see with those 2 companies merging is the conflict they would have. They both like to control everything. But put that aside, imagine the products that would come out of those 2 companies together. A PSP with built in iPod functionality. A Playstation with Apple tv functionality. This is just a fantasy cause I don’t think a deal like this would ever be allowed, how could you have the largest online music retailer and one of the largest music labels under the same roof.
Revision 3 and Twit.tv
This is more of a wish for me. Leo Laporte is almost the last person left from Tech TV that hasn’t joined up with Revision 3. I really think his pride will never let him join Rev 3 but wouldn’t it be nice to have the whole Tech TV crew back together again?
