Its late and I’m in a bit if a evil mood. When I’m in a mood like this, and I’m sitting around thinking, I tend to start hating on things I see and read about. These are a few things that went through my mind a little while ago.

What makes Technorati so important?

When I started blogging about a year ago, there were 2 main things that I wanted to make sure I pay attention too. 1. Get indexed in Google. 2. Make sure my I’m listed in Technorati. As far as Google is concerned, I think I’m pretty decently indexed. I get a lot of traffic from Google. When it comes to Technorati. I spend a lot of time checking, pinging, being frustrated with post not showing up and everything else. FOR WHAT!!! I get less traffic from Technorati than I do Yahoo….Less than I do AOL. Dont get me wrong, I know Im not Darren Rowse or John Chow, but between my 2 blogs, I get a couple thousand visitors a day,  I rarely see Technorati traffic. Are they anymore important than any of the other blog listing websites out there? Well the answer is yes for some. many of the ways you can monetize your blog use Technorati, so theres no getting around it. Unless you don’t want to monetize your blog.

Is Firefox still all that great?

For years I read about everyone recommending Firefox. "Its safer", "its faster", "its better". And at one time it was absolutely true. Ive used Firefox for a long time, way back when half of the websites wouldn’t even work on Firefox and I had to still keep IE on standby. But people are still saying it. Why? Firefox is pretty buggy right now and has been for a minute.  IE7 is a lot safer and plainly a lot better than the old days when everyone had IE6. Yea Firefox has some cool extensions, but every time I put it on someone computer, I just get complaints about how it keeps crashing, and how Youtube videos wont play, and how they cant play the mp3 file sent to them in email and everything else. Is it worth the hassle? Is it really helping anyone by recommending to them to use a buggy browser?

Mac Mac Mac….Why?

Everywhere you look, Websites, Blogs, Podcast’s, even in the local newspapers and magazines people are always praising Mac’s. Always trying to convert you to Mac’s. Always talking about Mac’s. Why do Mac’s get so much press? You’d think they are dominating the PC industry. The truth is, they aren’t. Yea as a company, they are doing well for themselves right now, but why do they deserve so much of the talk and praise that they are getting. Last time I checked, Mac’s has about 5% of the market. About the same percent as Gateway and noone talks about Gateway. A new  piece of software comes out and the first question many ask is if there is Mac support. and if it isn’t, they make a big deal about it and whine and act like its a crime to not release it on the Mac. And I think to myself, 95% of the people out there are using other Windows based PC’s, if someone creates a Mac version of your software, call it a blessing and be happy. If there isn’t a Mac version you really couldn’t expect anything more. Mac’s are a very small portion of the home computer user base.

Why are iPods so small and other MP3 players so fat?

This is one thing I don’t understand. Why is it that Apple can make the iPod with 30gigs, 60gigs etc that is nice and sleek and slim, but most of the other MP3 players out there is all fat. The Zune…fat, Creative Zen…Fat. WHY? How do any of these companies expect to play with Apple and the iPod if they cant even make a player that is as slim as the iPod. What is the problem? Do they not realize that their players are bulky compared to the iPod? Motorola comes out with the Razr and just about every other cell phone maker has their own slim sleek cell phone within about 6 months, but its been a few years and hardly any of the major players has even come close. They all deserve to bring up the rear until they can make a slim player.
