Hell’s Kitchen has really won me over
I usually don’t care too much for reality TV, honestly, I feel like its ruining television. After saying that, I have to admit that I have absolutely fell in love with Hells Kitchen. The first episode I saw, I thought Chef Gordon Ramsay was an arrogant, rude, foul mouth prick…excuse my language, but that’s what I thought.
Since then, I have watched every episode that aired. I love Hells kitchen. My thoughts about Chef Ramsay hasn’t changed, but there is more to him than my initial impressions. But I was curious, has anyone ever tried to punch him in the face? So I went to Google, and looked to see if there was anything like that online. I didn’t find anything, but I did find out about another Gordon Ramsay show called Kitchen Nightmares. Happen to catch an episode or 2 (actually I bought the DVD) and watched them. He was still all of what I said above, but he does really care about what he does. everyone that has ever been on his show has probably left with some very valuable experience. Anyway, I know this is a little off topic of this blog, but figured you might want to check him out, so heres an episode (from Hulu.com)

I love Hell’s Kitchen, and actually anything with Gordon Ramsey in it, he’s genius. You might want to also check out “The F Word”, which is on here in the UK. It’s a slightly less intense programme than Gordon’s others but good nevertheless.

I didn’t want to watch HK because I am a waitress and thought it was too much like my job for me to stomach. A few friends convinced me to watch it so I started this season. I still think that if I wanted to see a guy screaming at everyone in a hot kitchen, I’d go to work. However, I admit to getting sucked into the show and am pleased with the final two. Can’t wait to see how it turns out!2

There’s no excuse for swearing. None. And even less for using it to browbeat people to get them to do what you want.
Programmes like this make me long for the return of censorship. We might have a calmer society as a result. Or on a personal level, have our subconscious free of other people’s negative drivel.

I don’t have a problem with swearing, but yea I agree with you TigerTom about using it to browbeat people. When I first saw the show, I hated how he treated people. I wonder why they put up with it. I still don’t agree with it, but now I look at it as entertainment. The show itself has grown on me and I now like it a lot.
Im guessing a lot of the swearing is done for the show and the people knows what they are getting into before hand. I wouldn’t be surprised if they are all briefed and knows that when they mess up hes gonna be as mean and rude as possible.

It’s evolution. People automatically give in to the alpha male. Watch how the womenfolk flatter the most powerful man in the room.
He gives a good impression of being an alpha male; He’s a good cook, so he’s in his comfort zone and thus seems superior, he’s being aggressive, better do as he says(!)
There was a British politician named Edwina Currie who consistently refused to be browbeaten by him on one of these programmes; good to watch.
I truly wonder if he behaves like this in the company of bigger men.

You Donkey!
I’ve seen a few episodes, but haven’t gotten into it too much. I hate a little bit of content being dragged out over 10 commercial breaks (which I guess is all reality tv), but the episodes seem all the same to me. Chef yelling, and someone crying. Once is enough for me.

All right. You have convinced me to give this show a try. I’ve veered away from reality shows for the most part, but I’ve heard interesting things about Hell’s Kitchen. It might remind me of my days at Taco Bell.

Popping back into this thread to say how pleased I was that Christine won. I think she’ll do a great job as chef.
And I understand the comments about not swearing…but in all honesty, if you’ve ever worked in the restaurant biz, it’s unbelievable pressure. I don’t condone the bad language, but I do understand how it happens.
