GTA IV a 10 across the board?….Really? No I mean really?
I waited in line for the midnight launch of GTA IV. Have been working every since but between the 2 days since Ive received my copy, Ive put about 4 or 5 hours into the game. After playing the game for that amount of time, I honestly have to say that it is a good game, it has the same appeal as the other GTA’s and it is indeed a must have title.

First let me say, Im not one of those people that think that a a gaming review score of 10 means perfect. But I have to say that even though I think GTA IV is a really good game, a score of 10 from every game reviewers just doesn’t seem right to me, cause it is not a 10 game "across the board". key words being "across the board".
Yea I can see a couple of 10’s scattered throughout the list of scores but not as many as it is getting. Ive always had some question as to how much hype and other biases and platform/game developer favorites effect game reviewers. I think it does. And often.
GTA IV so far is the same game as all the others GTA games. The graphics looks better than the older versions but they don’t really look that great. Controls, walking around or driving, combat all are somewhat bad which in my opinion is clearly enough to take a half point off.
Ok, thats my soapbox for today. I’m still having fun so I don’t think the game is bad, just overrated…just a bit.

the Great thing I like about GTA 4 is the Multi-player!! I enjoyed GTA SA. missing MU feature is with GTA4.

I agree 10 overally is too much. Especially with nice, but not brilliant graphics and what has always made me mad, the not precise enough controls. Still, since the story seems at least as good as it was in the previous parts, imo overally gta4 deserves at least a strong 9.

I bet this one will double the sales that the last one did - now that copyright protection is better, other countries won’t pirate it as easily.
TBF it’s knocked COD4 off the top stop multiplayer wise so it must be doing something right in that department too!

My girlfriend and I broke up because of GTA.
She was complaining because I have no time for her for a few weeks. Cause I was playing the GTA for three days straight without sleep.

GTA IV is a solid game, but I think way too many reviewers played far too little and jumped at the shiny beginnings and thus the score. Game Revolution posted there’s two weeks after the game’s release to get a full review, and they gave it an A-/9. While I think the game is beautiful, and there is so much to do, I did find some faults. I miss the weapon selection from San Andreas, and there is still that issue of “when you need a specific vehicle, they are never around, but once you are driving it, they are the only vehicle on the road.
My biggest gripe: here we are with consoles that have huge hard drives, and yet we still can’t create a custom radio station based on our music. You could on DOA: Beach Volleyball for the XBox, but not GTA IV for the 360?
I’ve been a huge gamer all my life and loved Vice City, but haven’t gotten Liberty City yet because I don’t want to get addicted. I don’t think a game itself could be a 10/10, but I think the entertainment and replay factors could definitely make it a 10/10. Since GTA IV is a sandbox game, the playability is unlimited since you can do whatever you want, even if it means no missions. Plus, you can always use codes to give you unlimited health, ammo, and such to make it even more entertaining.
I’ll probably pick it up soon, I just don’t want to spend hours and hours each day playing video games like I did for so long.
GTA 3 was one of the best. i dont think i will miss this one
The first 25% of GTA IV was awesome (which is what’s needed to get good reviews). After that, it deteriorated rapidly IMO. Still good.
Yea, I played it a lot at first, got to about 39% and haven’t loaded it up since
