Could streaming video live be the next step for blogger interaction?

About the week ago, I ran into a little website that allows you to stream or view live video over the internet. After reading Todd Cochran’s blog post where he mentioned Ustream.tv, I headed over there to see what was up.
Thats when I saw on the front page, Chris Pirillo talking about random things, answering questions and just interacting with people in irc live. I thought it was pretty cool. Then I just thought about the service, and what Chris was doing and thought about how this could change how things are done online.
The difference wasn’t that video was being streamed to us viewers live, cause that has been done plenty of times. Its the fact that the interaction was there. It was like a blog but almost face to face. The "blogger" (who in this blog post is played by Chris Pirillo), was there talking about tech things, sort of like he would do on his blog and in his podcast’s, but the commentors were getting responses and answers to their comments in real time on video. To try to maintain something like this as a permanent thing would be a pretty huge job. Although Chris has been broadcasting live every time I have visited Ustream.tv, I don’t think many would be able to hang in there for the long haul.
For now, I’m just gonna keep checking back to see if Chris repeats the little situation he had on another such video marathon (see below)
