C is for Cookie. Cookie Monster App
The other day I went to Youtube and noticed that when I typed “www.youtube.com” in the address bar, it redirected me to “www.youtube.de”. I don’t know how it happened, I look at a lot of stuff on the web so I probably went somewhere that changed my country settings for Youtube. So I went fishing through my cookies to deleted all of my Youtube cookies and that fixed it.
Later on, I went to a blog I had never been too before and noticed that my avatar showed up on that persons Mybloglog widget. I’ll be honest, I don’t even log into my blog log anymore. I reinstalled Vista on my notebook a few months ago and have only been to mybloglog once since the reinstall…to get a new widget to put on this site when I changed themes. So I went into my cookies again and deleted any mybloglog cookies that were there.
While looking around for a way to keep certain cookies from being kept on my PC I ran into a program called Cookie Monster. If you don’t know, you can always go to your privacy settings on your browser and delete cookies, you can even set up some browsers to automatically delete cookies every time you close the browser but that isn’t what I want to do.
What I want to do is label some cookies as “safe” and delete the rest. without having to go to the folder where the cookies are solved and doing this manually. That’s what Cookie Monster does. Once you install it, you get 2 icons. One is just the general app icon, and the other is one called “it my cookies“. If you launch the program using the regular icon, It will bring up a list of cookies on your computer. You can then sift through them and move all the cookies you do not want to delete to the right column, or the safe side. Afterwards whenever you click on the other icon it will delete every cookie except for the one you labeled as safe.
Is a simple utility but one that can be useful if you are a “Cookie Monster” (sorry). Anyway, you can get that “proggie” here. but in the meantime…

pretty useful program.
i usually just delete all my cookies when i end a browsing session. problem is, it would also be nice for some sites to remember me. with a program like this, it looks like i can do that rather easily after all.
