I have to admit, I am scared to delete my email. Im not talking about just deleting individual email, or a spam item here and there. I’m talking about deleting my whole inbox and starting from scratch. I have several email addresses that I use for different things. Of coarse, I have the email address that is associated with this website. Then there’s the Jonzee.com email addy, There’s email I use for certain services etc.

Email OverflowFor the last 3-4 years Ive been using one particular yahoo email address as my main personal email. I have Yahoo mail plus on that account so there are several “disposable” email addy’s included, several different folders that I use to filter the different “disposable” email from my regular email. To make a long story short, my personal email is a filtered, categorized well organized machine. I get rid of spam as it comes, anything that I wouldn’t want anyone else to read gets deleted after reading, important emails have a folder, work emails have a folder, family have a folder.

The problem is I have over 10,000 emails. About once a week I look at my inbox and think about wiping it all out. I know I’m not going to go through everything and try to make the number smaller selectively. The only thing I can think to do is just risk it all and delete it all.

But in that 10,000+ email, there is a lot of information that one day I might need. I couldn’t tell you how many times things have came up, and I was glad to be able to go back and look up the info I need in my email. As much space that is offered with a lot of these email services, Im not sure if deleting old email is really a big concern at all.
