Alexa isnt the only show in town. Try Compete for a second opinion
Alexa.com is the go to site for many bloggers, advertisers, publishers and pretty much anyone that is looking up a website’s performance. Where do you go when you want a second opinion?
There is another option. Its called Compete.

Like Alexa.com Compete track’s website’s performance. They also look to be a very competent platform to Compete with Alexa (no pun intended). As you can see from the chart above. Compete lets you enter in whatever website you want to find info about and compare them to each other. Thats not all, Compete will even tell you if there are any promotions going on with the websites you are looking up. Also, there is a search analytics’s section that lets you see what keywords people are using to get to those sites. It looks like Compete has the potential to be a more in depth tool when trying to find out the info to do whatever research you are doing.
Also, like Alexa, there is a toolbar that you can install on your Firefox and IE browser that put that information at your fingertips. It also helps in tracking visitors to websites all over the world, just like the Alexa toolbar.
While I have checked Compete from time to time every since I found out about it a few months ago, it’s still lacking some of the users that Alexa has, thus some of the less popular websites may not have enough data to show trends.
Its worth giving it a look, so you might want to go check it out.
