A very annoying blogging mistake.
Blogging is fun, for me anyway. I love talking about things of interest. I love having an output and the opportunity to meet and conversate with people that share the same interest I have. I have gotten addicted to writing, even though Im not really a writer. With all the fun I have blogging, there are a few things that really annoy me. Mostly things I do, mistakes, to make something that seem simple a little more work than it shouldve been.
The last blog post I made, "What are your favorite TV shows", was written about 4 times before it showed up on Jonespc. It was a little thing that was on my mind when I was at work, and when I got home I started writing it. I knew I wanted to list TV shows that I like. I knew I wanted to link to info and in some cases video of those TV shows so that people reading could find out more about the show if its something they never heard about. My problem is that each time I finished writing the blog post, and were adding the links etc, I made a mistake and deleted the whole post.
How does one delete and loose a whole blog post after writing it?
I’m not sure how most bloggers write their post but I usually do it 1 of 2 ways. I either write the blog post in Microsoft Word, then copy and paste it over to Wordpress, add the links and images then publish. Or I write the blog post in Wordpress, add the links and images etc.
This particular time, I opened Wordpress and started writing the blog post. I already knew what I wanted to say so it didn’t take to long to write, but the post wasn’t really a short post so it took a decent amount of time to write. Then I started formatting the text, and adding the links to all the shows. How I did that is I would go from show to show and find good links to associate with that show listing in the blog post. Some was from the network site, some were from IMDB, some were from other sources. I tried to mix it up and at the same time get good resourceful links or each show.
What kept happening is that I would make a mistake and start searching for links in the same tab (using Firefox) that my unfinished blog post was being created in. by the time I realize it, I had already went to a few websites and the post I was writing is lost. At that point I had to start all over from scratch. I went through that process 4 times before I made it to the end without deleting that blog post.
